Finncomm to start direct flights to Norrköping

As of today, 31 August, Finncomm Airlines will begin service to Norrköping, Sweden. The airline will offer this international route once a day, Sunday-Friday, in co-operation with Finnair. Norrköping is the third destination in Sweden served by Helsinki Airport.
Airport Director Juha-Pekka Pystynen is pleased to see Finnish airline Finncomm Airlines operating flights to Norrköping. Norrköping and its neighbouring city Linköping form the fourth largest economic zone in Sweden.

“The route further improves Sweden’s already smooth connections to the world and especially Asia. It also offers Finnish companies fast and efficient connections to Sweden’s business centres.”

According to Pystynen, the Swedes have quickly learned to use Helsinki Airport as a transit stop on trips to Asia.“They form the largest foreign passenger segment using the airport. Last year, Swedish passengers took well over half a million flights to Helsinki Airport,” he says.

The Norrköping route strengthens Helsinki Airport’s position as Northern Europe’s leading long haul airport. Norrköping is Helsinki Airport’s third destination in Sweden in addition to Stockholm and Gothenburg. Helsinki Airport serves over 121 destinations all over the world.

According to Finncomm’s CEO Juhani Pakari, a well-known figure in Finnish air travel circles, this is the airline’s first independently-owned foreign route. Finncomm operates the route in co-operation with Finnair. Schedules have been planned so that the connections to Asian flights are as comfortable as possible.

“Finncomm has been operating domestic flights for 10 years. Right now, we are the largest domestic operator in terms of the number of flights. The Norrköping route is the next chapter in our company’s history.”

Slated to begin operation on 31 August, the new route will also serve the needs of pleasure travellers. Norrköping lies in close proximity to Kolmården, the largest zoo in the Nordic countries, and Eastern Sweden’s charming Göta Canal.

According to Pakari, the airline has set fares for the route to suit every budget. “The most economical ticket from Helsinki to Norrköping is 49 euros,” he says.
